Description

The Johannesburg Gymnastics Centre was established in 1993 by former National coach, Ms. Janet Mitchell and has a history of gymnastic excellence. In 2001 the Club was bought by Ilse Pelser, who is the current owner and Head Coach.

During the past 20 years, JGC produced over 30 Protea/Springbok gymnasts and 16 National Champions, all of whom have represented their country at various International Competitions.

We have delivered a National Champion in the Junior Olympic and/or Senior Olympic section, almost every year since 2005.

Our High Performance and Main Stream programmes are widely regarded as some of the best in the country and at present, 75% of all National Team gymnasts in the country train at JGC.

At JGC, we offer fully equipped training sessions (competitive and non-competitive) with highly qualified and energetic coaches. Our training ranges from pre-school all the way to Olympic level. JGC currently offers weekly training at various schools such as Maragon, St Theresa’s, Florida and the German School.

Attire
Girls: any tight fitting clothing or leotard with hair neatly tied up.
Boys: any shorts and t-shirt or leggings and a tight long sleeve top in winter.

High Performance Gymnastics
Our High Performance squad consists of forty gymnasts (both senior and junior), all of whom are in preparation for future International Competitions and Olympic participation.

Tumbling Classes
JGC offers tumbling as a discipline and these classes are simply brilliant. Tumbling forms a very strong basic foundation for artistic gymnastics and our head coach in this arena, Leeland Christian, closely supervises the Saturday classes.
