After leaving my previous teacher due to unforeseen circumstances, I joined Piano-Forte with Manishka Bhogal as my teacher, in May 2018. My first piece was “Clouds” by Pam Wedgwood, after a few of lessons Manishka said that it would be great to have that piece played at the end of the year recital. I was very doubtful; I had not mastered any of the pieces that I had previously worked on. One of my difficulties was timing, but she said that my timing would be good in 2 to 3 months. She gave me easier pieces so that I could build a solid foundation, I feel that I made great progress throughout the year. It is specially gratifying to have developed fairly good timing. Before the end of the year I had mastered “Clouds” and had worked on many other pieces. Manishka always comes up with strategies that work, she seems to know exactly how to get her students where she wants them to be. I had not planned to move to another school but am glad that I did.

My daughter (aged 13) has attended lessons with Manishka for about a year. Manishka's professionalism, patience and amazing talent is the reason for my daughter's confidence and growth in playing the piano/keyboard. I would highly recommend Piano-Forte.

Thank you for inspiring and encouraging me. You have played such an important part of my journey this year and I will always be truly grateful to you. If you are wanting to overcome your fear of water and learn to swim then swim 4 life is the place to go. I did the adults crash course with Kerry and at 43 years of age i finally learnt how to swim. Kerry is the kindest , most gentle person i have met. It was the best experience of my life. Thank you Kerry for your patience and for helping me fulfil a dream.

Wow!! Kerry Betz has been an excellent and patient teacher. With all the drowning incidences we hear about that takes place at homes itself, I thought it best to get my son to learn how to swim and most importantly how to be safe in the water. My son has become confident which make me as a parent comfortable to allow him to be in our pool at home. His learnt so much and is becoming better with each lesson. I am so grateful to have found a teacher such as Kerry. Keep up the great work :)

Learning to swim

Swimming has always been my dream, but fear stopped me! At the age of 42, I decided to face my fear, and to also tick this off my bucket list. This was the biggest challenge of my life. I lacked confidence & I felt insecure. But with perseverance, determination, and an excellent coach, my dream of swimming was realised. Coupled with being fearful, I also had issues with my neck and shoulders, so I didn't have upper body strength, which added to the challenge. To assist me, Kerry came up with exercises that I did during my lesson. She tailored my lesson to my personal needs. When I felt like quitting, Kerry kept pushing me and encouraging me. Even when I didn't have faith in myself, Kerry had enough for the both of us. When I look back at my swimming journey, I am in awe of my accomplishments. I often think to myself “If I had quit, I wouldn’t have been able to do any of this”. It is the most exhilarating feeling to be able to do the different strokes and to float. Thank you, Kerry.
